The majestic mountains
of Sinai appear as if out of nowhere, rising from the desert sands and
soaring to over 2300m above sea level. High Range Trekking involves
passing through otherworldly granite cracks, crevasses and peaks which
are littered with rare mountain plants and medicinal herbs.
High Range
Trekking will take you through the largest and most dramatic ranges
in Sinai to experience an assortment of mountain characteristics. Primarily,
its the sheer height of the surrounding mountains which creates
such a unique atmosphere and setting, but it is also the waterfalls,
natural pools, table top plateaus and caves and canyons which constitute
the unique magic of High Range Trekking in Sinai, a most amazing adventure.
High Range Trekking is all conducted at a height of 1000m above sea
level, is suitable for all levels of fitness, and covers aproximately
6 hours of trekking per day.

the Gabaliya Bedouin Tribe, Embah Safari have established a Mountain
Lodge deep within the St Catherines mountain range, which provides
a base camp for discovering this awe inspiring and astounding area of
natural beauty. The lodge is set up as a traditional mountain dwelling
and offers all simplistic comforts, providing a familiar resident camp,
allowing us to set out daily on a number of different routes and return
in the evening.
From the summit of Mt Katherine to the panoramic views at Wadi Shag
and the Dripping Caves of Matiftif, the Mountain Lodge Safari will take
you not only to the famous, but also the undiscovered places of interest
in the St Catherine's area.

Mount Sinai is renowned
within the medical research community as a haven for rare plants and
herbs. An ancient manuscript belonging to a local Bedouin family has
been passed down through generations recording data of traditional herbal
remedies found growing in the region.
The Herb Gathering Trip will take you to the majestic St Catherine's
area, where you will learn about the plants and herbs unique to this
area, and their medicinal values and uses. Searching for herbs will
take you into untouched parts of the mountain range where you will learn
to identify the preferred growing terrains of specific plants and herbs.
Working in conjunction with local Bedouin herbal practitioner Doctor
Ahmed, Embah Safari have made it possible for you to experience this
unique and fascinating Safari. It is also possible to incorporate a
medical consultation with Doctor Ahmed within your Herb Gathering Safari,
and learn more of his work.

We recognise that
the effects of tourism in such a delicate environment can be harmful
and sometimes destructive to tribal traditions and to the desert environment.
We aim to help sustain traditional lifestyles in ways which are typical
to the elder Bedouin, and to introduce a certain amount of modern facilities
to attract the younger generations to continue living in the desert.
We work towards creating an awareness of the issues and effects involved
in tourism and promote respect of the land and of this ancient culture.
A number of projects which work in conjunction with various Bedouin
Tribes are currently in place and which allow you to join in on a practical
level.
See the about us for information on current
projects, and packages for details and
itineraries of scheduled Embah Project Safaris.
